You are looking at a one of a kind 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB with a 6 speed manual conversion using shift cables, a massive improvement over the factory spec. This is the very first one to ever be converted in this way. Over $1 million dollars in R&D and 2 years spent on this project to make it happen in conjunction with European Auto Group, USA.
This car was originally purchased for the purpose of a manual conversion. Shortly after purchasing the car, OEM parts for the conversion became impossible to obtain. Ferrari no longer wanted to sell them, and would not produce them.
This is when I got involved with EAG USA to help provide funding to produce conversion kits in house. We initially reverse engineered the OEM design using shift rods. This took about a year to get produced. Unfortunately, once we installed the first prototypes of the OEM style of shift linkage using shift rods, it would chatter and vibrate excessively like the OEM cars. This was especially prominent in 3rd and 5th gears. We went through many iterations of trying to modify the shift rods to remove the vibration, but after about a month of experimenting, concluded the design was flawed. EAG USA wiped the slate clean and decided to in-house design a shift cable system.
The shift cable system took about another year to prototype and produce, and we used this car as the prototype platform. In this same time, EAG USA moved from San Antonio, opened a much larger shop in Austin, and purchased a 5-axis CNC machine to do rapid prototyping. After some tweaking and redesigned elements, the final results are amazing. There is 0 vibration or chatter, the shifting is smoother than the OEM style shift rods, there’s far less notchiness in the shifts, it’s just better in every way. Its the ultimate grand touring gated Ferrari.
